The New Rules of Marketing Warfare - Kevin McGrew on Books, Chaos & Distribution

Speaker preview on Kevin McGrew

Hey there!

Every founder thinks they’re fighting a marketing battle. Kevin McGrew says they’re actually fighting a war.

And most are losing because they don’t understand the terrain.

Kevin - CEO of Everzocial, longtime friend, and author of “The New Rules of Marketing Warfare: A Battle Plan for Winning Customers, Scaling Quickly, and Beating Competitors - joined me for a Strike Marketing Summit preview interview, and he laid out one of the clearest, most hard-earned frameworks I’ve heard for turning chaos into calm, and ideas into impact.

His premise is simple: Entrepreneurship is urban warfare.Things are loud, unpredictable, and constantly shifting. Your only job is to stay calm and execute.

That’s where his SMAC framework comes in:

S = SHOOT. Know exactly who you’re aiming at. “If you aim at everyone, you hit no one.” Define your reader, your customer, the specific mind you want to occupy.

M = MOVE. Get moving, fast. Early drafts should be imperfect. Momentum beats perfection. “Short sprints, not long marathons,” Kevin says — especially when writing a book.

A = ADAPT. Use data and feedback. Early readers. Editors. Real-world reactions. Just like in real combat, intel determines your next move.

C = COMMUNICATE. Distribution is king. A book without distribution, Kevin says, “is a diary.” Plan how you will spread your ideas before you finish writing them.

And here’s the twist most founders never see coming: Kevin didn’t write his book as a “launch.” He wrote it because he simply needed to get the damn thing finished.

But after launching it, he discovered something bigger: a book becomes the fuel for every strike you deploy afterward. Events. Webinars. Short-form clips. Category messaging. Authority. Door-openers.

A book is the body of work that turns noise into narrative.

In Kevin’s world - and mine - this is the new marketing warfare: Define the battlefield, publish the manifesto, launch the strike, and keep the conversation alive.

Kevin will break it all down inside his talk:

“From CEO to Author: How to Write and Publish Your Marketing War Book”
December 11th • Strike Marketing Summit

If you’re building a category, fighting for attention, or simply trying to get your ideas out of your head and into the world - you don’t want to skip this one.

See you at the Summit.
